Dan Jones: One More Whiskey for the Road – From Kitchen Gigs to Global Stages
Some journeys start with a single step—Dan Jones’ began with a kitchen gig, a phone call, and a dream that just wouldn’t quit. Now, in February 2025, he makes his boldest move yet with the release of “One More Whiskey for the Road”, a soul-stirring country rock anthem that blends modern storytelling with the grit of the open highway. This isn’t just a new single—it’s the sound of a seasoned musician stepping into the spotlight and claiming his place in country music.
Dan’s journey has been anything but ordinary. In March 2023, he made a promise to himself to return to the thrill of live performance. Almost as if fate had been waiting, his phone rang—on the other end was Liam Price, pitching a brand-new idea: the Luke Combs UK Tribute. What started as a conversation turned into something much bigger—the world’s premier tribute to country megastar Luke Combs.
Fast-forward to 2025, and Dan has gone from playing impromptu kitchen gigs to lighting up iconic venues like Bath Forum. With tours lined up in the USA, Canada, and Australia, his musical story is unfolding on a global stage.
But Dan’s artistry extends far beyond the tribute scene. As a guitarist, he’s been recognised as one of the UK’s finest, earning features in Classic Rock Magazine, Powerplay, and Fireworks. His 2021 solo album, Zero Four Nine, was met with critical acclaim, scoring a 9/10 in Powerplay Magazine and drawing praise from outlets like The Razors Edge and the Dutch Progressive Rock Pages.
Now, with One More Whiskey for the Road, Dan dives headfirst into country music, drawing inspiration from the raw emotion of Chris Stapleton, the anthemic energy of Luke Combs, and the storytelling power of Morgan Wallen and Zac Brown Band. His latest EP has already made waves in the national UK country music press, with Maverick Magazine hailing it as "a rich, heartfelt country rock EP that blends classic storytelling with a rugged, soulful edge." The review highlights standout track "Forever Would Be Too Long" as "a deeply moving ballad that showcases his storytelling prowess," praising Dan’s "raspy yet melodic vocals" and the "warm piano and soaring guitar work that evoke a timeless, heartland feel." Maverick awarded the EP an impressive 9/10, solidifying its place as a must-listen for country music fans. With such strong reception, One More Whiskey for the Road proves that Jones is a voice worth hearing.
From intimate kitchen gigs to international tours, from rock virtuoso to country storyteller, Dan Jones is just getting started. And with One More Whiskey for the Road, he’s raising a glass to the next chapter.
